How long do I have to file a claim in California?
Most California personal injury claims must be filed within two years of the injury, but claims against a public entity generally require a written government claim within six months. Medical malpractice and minors' claims follow different rules, so call before assuming you have time.
Should I talk to the other side's insurance company first?
